Anders Bjørn is an expert in life cycle indicators of environmental impact. He has a Masters of Science in Environmental Engineering from DTU and is currently a postdoctoral fellow at CIRAIG. He chose to do his thesis on environmental sustainability, within the field of quantitative sustainability assessment. Bjørn was always fascinated by the concept of sustainability and how different approaches exist to drive sustainable development. He is keenly interested in upstream approaches to sustainable development in the form of sustainable product and system design. He feels this is more useful than down stream approaches such as waste water treatment and contaminated site remediation. Bjørn hopes to use his knowledge to contribute to a better future instead of merely cleaning up after the past. His main learning is using system and life cycle thinking to critically assess the “greenness” of products claimed to be sustainable.
